Logistics and transportation has performed better in various European countries in the past year and volumes have increased by a few percent. Research shows that these levels are expected to continue to grow in the coming year. However, this does not mean that price recovery and returns will also grow. Therefore, the motto will remain to continue to focus on optimal deployment of people and resources. The return of volumes does not automatically result in price recovery and therefore returns strongly depend on the operational efficiency of the deployment of people and resources. Mr. Bode, sector manager Transport & Logistics ING: ‘The market demands continuous improvements. To enable this, transport and logistics must continue to invest in ICT and staff to generate the proper management information and improve margins by reducing cost in the overhead’.
